The Meerkat system enables Police Officers to assemble, cross-reference, and annotate video evidence from both digital and analogue CCTV systems.
Meerkat allows simultaneous time synchronised playback of video segments from different systems even if one is multiplexed and the other is full frame rate. Police Officers can enter observations and attach them to frames or sections of video with all observations being stored in a central database along with other details of the footage. A GIS interface is also included so the user can quickly assemble an overview of the available footage both in time and space. Data and video can be exported in standard formats. The system runs on mainstream computer architecture using current Microsoft operating systems via standard workstations or servers. The systems are fully upgradeable to cover future needs and advances.
The Meerkat system was developed in association with The Home Office Scientific Development Branch.
Accessible accurate integrated information in both time and space
This software based system is designed to bring analogue and digital images from all major formats together, making the information readily accessible and comparable with several video streams, whilst maintaining time synchronisation even between time lapsed multiplexed footage and full frame rate footage.

-
Automatic decoding of multiplexed footage including date and time whilst maintaining the quality and integrity of the information
-
Greatly reduced time required to access, analyse and interpret information by other methods
The system runs under current Microsoft operating systems on standard workstations and servers. The systems are fully upgradeable to cover future needs and advances. Meerkat is available as a individual workstation, Meerkat Investigator and as a networked multiuser system, Meerkat Premier. A major feature is support for Geographic InformationSystems (GIS) mapping of video data.
